Dick being a regular face on television and starring in shows such as Scrap Heap Challenge, Its Not Easy Being Green, Coast, Planet Mechanics , Re-Inventors and many other TV programs, was well known to many of the Members and Guests. As a well known Eco-engineer, Dick gave an enlightening talk on his career and how an Army Lieutenant Colonel with a 24 year military career was able to to become a household celebrity name (or telly tart as he called it). Dick was invited to talk because of his work in Eco-engineering, which fitted well with our member companies, who have pushed the technology of heating products to achieve outstanding efficiencies and massive carbon savings. The key to a successful TV career for Dick, wasn't his military career or his Electronics degree, but was down to his ability to grow a big moustache.
